Staff and pupils at St Leonard’s Primary School together with Burnley’s Up and Active team donned a red nose to raise money for the annual event.
The primary school children had great fun taking part in the bake sale to raise cash for Comic Relief.
In keeping with the health theme the budding bakers cooked up a storm for their healthy bake sale and replaced the traditional sale of cakes with fruit kebabs.
Children also had an opportunity to have a go on a smoothie bike, which was provided by the Up and Active team. They worked up a sweat and whizzed a staggering 290 smoothies throughout the day.
The kind-hearted children were delighted having raised just under £100 for the charity.
Up and Active’s operational manager Linda Searle said: “The event was a great success and the fun-packed day saw some impressive rides on the Up and Active smoothie bike by the children, who also made the most fantastic fruit kebabs – all to raise life-changing cash for both local and world-wide communities.”
The Healthy Schools programme is delivered in primary schools by leisure services’ Up and Active teams throughout East Lancashire.
The aim of programme is to aid pupils with knowledge and skills on how to lead a healthy life and motivate them to make informed choices at school and at home with their families.
This is done whilst meeting key learning objectives around health and well-being which include healthy eating, motivating pupils to get more active and raising self-esteem and confidence.
