A new 10km run is being launched in Padiham by Burnley Leisure to encourage more people to take up running and to showcase the town’s beautiful surroundings.
Taking place on Sunday 20th September, Burnley Leisure 10k run will cover some of the town’s most attractive spots including the new Padiham Greenway, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal towpath as well as the beautiful Hapton and Padiham countryside.
Garry Stein, Burnley Leisure facilities assistant manager, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Burnley Leisure 10k run, which will be a terrific event for Padiham bringing people into the streets and showcasing the amazing things it has to offer.
“We have limited places to 200 for the first year of the event, so people should get a sprint on and get their applications in early to avoid disappointment.”
The race is open to anyone aged 15 or over and people can book a place online via bookitzone.com or UKresults.net starting Monday, 1st June.
Application forms can also be picked up from St Peter’s or Padiham leisure centres or obtained by emailing leisure@burnley.gov.uk.
The race is sponsored by Option Hygiene.
Option Hygiene MD John Derbyshire said: “I’m delighted to put my company’s name to such a strong community-based event and I’d like to wish all entrants the best of luck in their training and preparation for the event.”
