Burnley Leisure star volunteers were honoured at a celebratory event last week.
The selfless work of Burnley Leisure volunteers has been recognised as part of a special dinner held at a local restaurant Shimla Spice.
A group of nine dedicated youngsters have received gifts and were presented with certificates for their contribution in reaching various milestones within local projects and events in the community.
Waheed Rashid, project development officer at Burnley Leisure and a lead for Volunteer Burnley scheme said: “These awards are just one of the ways that we can say a special thank you to our volunteers involved in giving up their time to help others.
“Without our volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to hold many of our projects and improve our services in the community, so we’re grateful to have their support.”
Volunteer Burnley initiative has been running since 2007 and is attracting 100 youngsters each year.
The scheme is always looking for young people who want to develop their skills and gain volunteering experience in sports coaching, outdoor sports, children’s holiday clubs, and project management.
It also offers opportunities for youngsters who want to develop their skills in art, video filming and editing.
