HRV

Rounders Team

What leagues/days does your team play?

We made our debut in the Summer league 2017 playing on Monday nights. We enjoyed it so much we’ve joined the Monday night winter league. We plan to enter in Summer 2018 too!!

Why are you called that?

Our name HRV stands for Hyndburn and Ribble Valley. We’re mainly friends from work and that’s the area we cover although our team is also made up of friends and family members who don’t work with us. The truth is when we joined we couldn’t think of a different name so we went with this and it just stuck.

How long has the team been playing in the leagues?

This is only our second season so we were one of the newbies in Summer 2017.

Do your team practice/train

We’re a bunch of busy bees so unfortunately we don’t get to train all the time but we have been to a few of the indoor practice sessions. In the summer we also practiced outside with some of the other teams

(Read Panthers and The Mix) who gave us some great pointers.

Who is the team joker?

Lauren Brierley. Always manages to keep the team smiling with her one liners and general chilled out, happy go lucky outlook on life.

Why does your team love playing Rounders in our leagues?

“Great community to be part of with lots of support and encouragement from others, great way to boost confidence, keep active, meet new people and have fun!” – Kathryn

“I joined a few seasons ago and must have raved about it so much at work it made people want to enter a team which we did! Its good fun, a relaxed atmosphere and a good way to make you feel good about yourself. It’s also been been nice meeting so many lovely people.” – Michelle

“Our team is a lovely bunch. We are a new team and just getting to know the game, but improving all the time. We are all very different and diverse which makes it all the more fun. I personally love reconnecting with my old colleagues, and love a good gossip!!!” – Lauren

Social side – add a few examples of the social side of your team.

We all went to the presentation night in September which we loved.

We’ve got a few more nights out planned. I suppose we should try and do something together instead of just nights out. That can be our goal for next season.

Why should a potential new player join your team?

Our team is a great bunch of girls who always make everyone feel welcome and everybody is valued.

We support each other and have all been so kind and welcoming to our new players who’ve joined us along the way.

We’re a pretty new team with some experienced and some not so experienced players so we welcome all abilities. Obviously we enjoy it when we win but we do like to have fun too.
