Our charity funded projects

Burnley Leisure & Culture is a charitable trust that aims to enrich lives and communities in the Burnley area. Through health, wellbeing, sport, and cultural experiences, we focus on making a positive impact. Here are some notable initiatives.

Walking Back to Happiness

This charity funded project offers a wide variety of walking-based activities that encourage our community to get back to leading a happier and healthier lifestyle. From people who may need more support with their physical or mental health and wellbeing, to people who just want to get out, meet new people, and enjoy a walk in our beautiful countryside.

This project offers a number of sessions, from health walks, The Big Burnley Walk, Beat the Street, Active Football, Walking Netball, Rounders, and our monthly trips to planned walks a little further afield. Our aim, through these sessions, is to help OUR community be healthier and happier.

Charity Fundraising

Here at Burnley Leisure and Culture, all our profits are put back into providing facilities and projects that benefit the whole community. Our fundraising enhances this work. The fundraising work is varied and includes things like guided challenge walks up Mount Snowdon and Ben Nevis, plus the Summer Solstice walking challenge; a walking event around Barden Athletics Track from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday 19th June to raise money and awareness for Pendleside Hospice as well as Burnley Leisure & Culture, in partnership with Six Connections.

Limitless Cycling

Another of our charity funded projects is the new British Cycling’s Limitless programme; an inclusive cycling initiative designed to provide opportunities for disabled people to enjoy cycling, regardless of age, impairment, or ability.

Limitless aims to break down barriers and inspire change by creating a network of inclusive cycling opportunities. Whether you’re a first-time cyclist or an experienced rider, Limitless offers fun and regular sessions to keep you active.
