Last chance to nominate your community sports champions

Burnley is looking to honour the best and brightest in the world of local sport with the Community Sports Awards 2016.

The nomination process is still open www.burnleyleisure.co.uk/sportsawards but is closing on Friday, 1st April – so don’t delay, nominate today!

Organised by Burnley Leisure, the awards provide an opportunity for volunteers, coaches, clubs and participants from across the borough to be recognised for their outstanding achievements and dedication to sport.

This year there are ten award categories ranging from the Community Club of the Year to Rising Star of the Year.

All shortlisted nominees will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony hosted by World Champion and Olympic silver medallist Roger Black. It is scheduled to take place on 21st July at Burnley Mechanics Theatre.

Paul Foster, head of leisure development at Burnley Leisure, said: “The awards are a fantastic way of honouring local sporting champions – both on and off the pitch.

“As well as celebrating individuals, teams, clubs and schools which make Burnley proud day-in and day-out, the awards are also about recognising and thanking local volunteers who dedicate their time making a difference in the community.

“The awards are getting bigger and more popular each year, and I’d like to encourage people to have a look at the different categories available and get their entries in as soon as possible.”

Burnley Leisure is also offering local business and organisations the opportunity to raise their profile by sponsoring this event.
