Were you inspired by the amazing sight of thousands of people on the start line at this year’s London Marathon?
Then, don’t miss out on your chance to take up the ultimate running challenge.
The town’s charitable leisure trust is appealing for members of the public to dig out their running kits and join ‘Team Leisure’ at this year’s Burnley 10k.
Burnley Leisure, which promotes active and healthy communities and develops sport and play opportunities across the borough, is looking for runners to join its team at the event taking place on 4th June.
The leisure trust is one of the seven partner charities for this year’s event, which is being organised by Run for All in support of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Paul Foster, head of development at Burnley Leisure, said: “We’re excited to be one of the partner charities for this year’s event and welcome people of all abilities to join our team.
“You will be supporting a local charitable trust that makes a huge difference to the communities in Padiham and Burnley. All Team Leisure runners will receive a warm welcome, in addition to a free running t-shirt, 7-day leisure pass and a great deal of training support from our instructors.”
The trust has charity places available for just £20 and asks runners to raise sponsorship money if possible to contribute to the charity.
For those who can’t don their trainers and enter the event, the leisure trust is inviting people to help out on the day.
Volunteers are needed to get involved with tasks such as marshalling the course, handing out medals, water bottles and goody bags at the finish line.
