Strictly is not only back on our TV screens this autumn, Burnley Leisure is also going mad for dance as the second season of FitSteps kicks-off.
The popular dance fitness programme, which attracted more than 800 people last year, is hitting Burnley’s ‘dance floor’ every Wednesday and Thursday and beginners are welcome to join in.
Fitness instructor Mark Bennett, who is a qualified teacher of the programme that was developed last year, is leading classes every Wednesday at St Peter’s Leisure Centre at 6pm and at the Mechanics Basement Studio starting 10am on Thursdays.
The unique programme combines, for the first time, the best known and most popular Latin and Ballroom dances with proven fitness techniques.
Developed by Strictly Come Dancing dance stars Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, alongside former world champion swimmer Mark Foster, FitSteps is billed as a way to get fit fast, lose unwanted pounds and have lots of fun in the process.
Linda Searle, health and well-being manager at Burnley Leisure, said: “Fitsteps is capable of delivering fast fitness results with a heap of fun thrown in. You don’t need to be able to dance and it doesn’t involve any partner work or require special dance shoes.
“Just turn up in your favourite training shoes and comfortable clothes for a great workout, enjoy the music, get fit and have some fun.”
