At Burnley Leisure and Culture we are committed to re-investing in our facilities, making our venues more energy efficient, improving appearance, using space appropriately, and accommodating safe spaces. We will therefore be upgrading and modernising the village changing area, group changing, and vanity areas at St Peter’s Leisure Centre, to meet the needs of our members.
The village changing area will have all cubicles and lockers replaced and will house two group changing rooms to accommodate larger groups and schools. Also being added to this area are more family changing cubicles with larger lockers. The vanity units are also being replaced, along with showers, lighting, decoration, and marketing. Vanity units in all building areas are also being replaced.
The works will be completed in four phases and will commence on 6th November 2023 with the closure of the swimming pool village changing area for approximately six weeks.
The swimming pool will remain open during this time; however, we will be required to close some areas for the works to be completed.
Public Swimming and Swim Academy
Where possible, we are asking if you can come swim ready. The changing rooms near to sports hall 2 will be available for all participants to get changed with use of lockers, shower, and toilet facilities.
You will walk down the main corridor and enter the swimming pool via the group changes. As you will be walking down the main corridor, we do ask that you wear a robe and appropriate footwear.
There will be hooks provided on poolside to hang your robe.
Schools and Swimming Club
Again, where possible, we are asking everyone to arrive swim ready. While this work is taking place, four temporary changing areas are being built on poolside for school and club use. The only difference would be for school children who will enter via the fire exit on poolside upon logging in at our reception desk and all information is being provided direct to our schools.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these upgrade periods and can assure you that our site teams are working hard to ensure changing areas are back open as quickly as possible, while keeping disruption to a minimum with our swimming pools remaining open.
