After a regional appeal to find a venue in which to perform their upcoming show, Bolton Dance school, Theatre Works can breathe a sigh of relief as Burnley Mechanics Theatre have come to their rescue.
The group were due to perform their ‘Night at The Musicals’ show at the Thwaites Empire Theatre in Blackburn when the ceiling above the stage collapsed as children waited in the wings. Luckily no one was hurt but Theatre Works were then left with no venue to perform in and severely out of pocket.
The Mechanics stepped in and offered to stage the performance for them on 3rd July. The show is on the website www.burnleymechanics.co.uk
Barbara Hood, marketing and programme manager at Burnley Mechanics, said: “Due to our excellent facilities, both technical and room space, Burnley Mechanics is the leading venue to hire in the area for dance and drama schools to host their annual shows. Our facilities offer a safe spacious environment for the children and the excitement they get from performing on such a prestigious stage is a delight to see. As soon as we heard what had happened, and understanding how much these shows mean to the children, we contacted Theatre Works to offer our help and we are absolutely delighted to be hosting their show.”
