Burnley Mechanics and Paluka Promotions Ltd. teamed up at the beginning of the year with a promise to bring Lancashire’s finest in original music to your doorstep.
Showcasing three full bands and one acoustic act at each event, the collaboration aims to lay the foundations for original music by creating a buzz around local talent without the need to travel further a field.
“It’s important that we support live original music any way we can. Giving musicians the opportunity to perform on such an incredible stage with state of the art equipment in a prestigious theatre like Burnley Mechanics is such a leg up, particularly for young bands. Promoters get a bad reputation, often charging bands for unsold tickets but Paluka and Burnley Mechanics Theatre have taken a stand for our local musicians . We put so much effort into promoting and putting on an incredible event with a promise to split the ticket sales evenly between each musician. Unfortunately this is practically unheard of but we are confident, that with the communities support, we can pave the way for other venues to do the same.” Jo Hunt- Paluka Promotions Ltd.
“We performed at the debut Brick ‘n’ Beat back in January this year and in all honesty it was the best gig we’ve ever played. The sound was incredible, the audience were fully engaged and the whole thing was just run immaculately. Everyone involved should be so proud of the work they put in. It really paid off. ” Nat Griffiths- The Rafters.
Bands are also provided with live audio recordings, video footage and a professional photographer at each event. All recordings and photographs free to use for the artists. “It’s great to give something as valuable as recordings and photographs back to the artists. It allows them to build their portfolio and further advertise the event and themselves on social media.” Matt Yates- Paluka Promotions Ltd.
Independent record label and content creators, Firelit, are getting behind the event too. Sending a team of videographers to record the live performance, in a further bid to provide musicians with content and assets, will hopefully showcase the event to a wider audience and help to build the momentum.
“It’s going to take time to build this event up but we’ve done the reasearch and it’s apparent that people want to hear original music”. Lee Rothwell- Burnley Mechanics
