An Audience with Martin Kemp at Burnley Mechanics

In 1979 Martin Kemp and his brother Gary formed the new romantic band Spandau Ballet; the group went on to tour the world and had a number of big hits making them one of the most successful bands of this memorable era.

By the late 80’s Martin had married Shirlie, one of the backing singers from Wham, and had started a family. He was then asked to star alongside his brother Gary in the film ‘The Krays’ which went on to be a huge success and remains a timeless British classic. He then moved to Hollywood and made several films before returning to Britain in the mid 90’s. In 1998 he was offered the part of Steve Owen in EastEnders, a role he played until March 2002. Film and TV roles followed as well as the release of his best-selling autobiography ‘True’.

After spending most of 2015 touring with Spandau Ballet, Martin has decided to get a bit more up close and personal with his fans this year – to sit with his audience and reflect on his remarkable life.

During this intimate evening, Martin will talk about his new romantic days with Spandau Ballet, his life as an actor, director of feature films, the secrets revealed in his autobiography and a lifetime of philanthropic work supporting major charities.

Since the age of seven, show business has been Martin’s passion; from early days at his local drama club, to Spandau, The Krays, Eastenders and beyond, no stone will go un-turned during this reveal all session.

Burnley Mechanics Theatre, Saturday 14th May, 7.30pm. Tickets £22.
