Burnley Volunteer Recruitment Fair

Have you ever volunteered? Ever thought about how you can help in your local area?

Many local organisations rely on volunteers to be able to deliver services to the public. Volunteering can be incredibly rewarding, whether you are looking for new experiences, opportunities to build your CV or meet likeminded people in your community. Do something amazing and become a volunteer!

This Volunteer Week we’re hosting an event at Burnley Mechanics Theatre to help you to find out more about the volunteering opportunities that are on your doorstep. There are a wide range of organisations taking part and here’s a quick overview:

Advocacy Focus – you will support people to live the lives they want to live. You will learn new skills whilst developing your knowledge of advocacy and the health and social care sector.
Burnley Civic Trust you are able to join a committed team of volunteers preserving and championing Burnley’s past and future, including the digitisation of the extensive Burnley Express image archive.
Burnley Leisure and Culture with opportunities across leisure venues, parks, the Mechanics Theatre and hospitality. There will also be a team promoting Sports Apprenticeships.
Burnley Library you will be supporting a wide range of library services from digital champions to family history, adult wellbeing and children’s activities.
Calico – supporting the work of Calico, bringing new perspectives to help support service users.
Carers Link Lancashire from befriending to outreach and awareness raising to fundraising and events there are lots of opportunities to get involved.
Child Action North West you can deliver life changing support to young people, provide opportunities for them to learn and grow or help with fundraising.
Community Engagement and Service User Support (Comensus) University of Central Lancashire sharing health and social care experiences to enrich the student experience.
Lancashire Volunteer Partnership with opportunities across a range of Lancashire County Council services including Queen Street Mill Textile Museum and Gawthorpe Hall.
Newground Together, Great Outdoors Team get involved in a range of gardening and outdoor activities at Offshoots walled garden in Towneley Park.
Super Slow Way from Burnley Canal Festival to the British Textile Biennial, there are opportunities to get involved in community projects, events and activities.
The Participation Works supporting projects with young people with roles behind the scenes and in the community.
Towneley Hall Museum & Art Gallery Burnley’s primary visitor attraction with a range of opportunities supporting the operation of the Hall and care of its collections.
Volunteering for Wellbeing and Community Hub the place to go for all things volunteering, whether you’re an individual looking for voluntary opportunities or a group or organisation looking to recruit volunteers.

During the volunteering event, there will be a range of talks between 11:45 am – 1:45pm, these will aid in the understanding of the different roles and opportunities that are being offered throughout the day.

11.45am Volunteering for Wellbeing and Community Hub

12.30pm Advocacy Focus

1pm Comensus Service, University of Central Lancashire

1.45pm Towneley Hall Museum & Art Gallery
