Good Boost is a pool based aquatic activity class which uses AI supported technology to support people with long term health conditions to manage their health and wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment.

What is good boost?
Good Boost is an exciting and innovative programme which supports people with long term health conditions to manage their health through aquatic activity in the pool.
Using tablets, which create personalised, tailored programmes for people on the programme bespoke to their individual needs, members can manage their condition or injury and maintain their health and wellbeing through regular aquatic activity.
Good Boost programmes are delivered over 12 weeks. Weekly sessions are available as a follow on after attending the course, but members must have attended the 12-week programme before booking on to weekly sessions.
Good Boost has a focus on supporting people with musculo-skeletal injuries or related conditions. It can support people through joint injury rehab, help management of joint pain and support people with limited mobility which could be linked to a variety of reasons e.g. MS, Parkinsons or a disability.

Good Boost is nationally recognised by the health sector as a programme to support people with long term health conditions manage their health through physical activity. It is also endorsed by Swim England through their Water Wellbeing Programme.

Frequently asked questions
A level of water confidence is required to attend but you don’t need to be a competent swimmer. The sessions take place in shallower water where feet are able to touch the floor.
Tablets and all floatation aids, swimming aids and other equipment is provided during the programme. All you need to remember is your swimming costume, towel and goggles if preferred.
Yes. All sessions will be led by a member of the Community and Health team and a lifeguard will be supporting on poolside.
Aquatic activity can be beneficial for managing muscle and joint issues, whether pain, injury or rehab because:
- Supports general wellbeing and fitness
- Low impact exercise – water takes pressure off the joints enabling movements that may be uncomfortable on land
- Helps build up strength in the muscles surrounding the joints
Sessions will be supported by a member of staff who can be on hand to support with any technology issues and help you get to grips with using the tablet. The team will also support with the registration process.
