Our Community and Wellbeing work significantly contributes to Burnley Leisure and Culture’s mission to inspire healthier, happier lives.

Connecting Our Community Through Sport, Play, and Wellbeing

We bring people together through a diverse range of sport, play, and wellbeing initiatives designed to make physical activity accessible and enjoyable for all. From exciting holiday programmes and school coaching to funded sports projects, health programmes, and vibrant community events, we create opportunities for everyone to get active, connect, and have fun.  We’re passionate about making a real difference in our communities.

Our innovative, forward-thinking team designs and delivers projects that not only encourage participation in sport and physical activity but also help boost confidence, improve physical and mental health, and break down barriers that prevent people from getting involved. Whether it’s supporting families, engaging young people, or creating inclusive spaces for older adults, we believe in experiences that are welcoming, engaging, and tailored to the needs of our community.

At Burnley Leisure and Culture, we see sport and wellbeing as more than just activities – they’re powerful tools for building stronger, healthier communities.

Through collaboration with local partners and a commitment to inclusivity, we ensure that everyone has the chance to enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.

Our Community and Wellbeing teams lead exciting projects that bring people together and promote healthier lifestyles across Burnley. Including the hugely popular Beat the Street, which turns the town into an interactive walking and cycling challenge, encouraging thousands to get active in a fun and engaging way. In addition to inclusive sports and activities like Rounders and Park Yoga, creating opportunities for all ages to enjoy physical activity, the outdoors and social connection. Alongside these, our wellbeing programmes tackle isolation, improve mental health, and support families – making Burnley a stronger, healthier community.
