Discover fun, social ways to stay active with Burnley Leisure and Culture. From sports and walking groups to community activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while meeting new people and boosting wellbeing.

Burnley Leisure and Culture has teamed up with Burnley Rounders Club to bring you exciting indoor and outdoor leagues, mixed-team festivals, and fun social sessions. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, there’s something for everyone! 

Games take place in local parks during summer and move indoors to St Peter’s Leisure Centre in winter. 

Women’s outdoor summer league schedule: 

  • Monday: 6:30pm & 7:30pm at Towneley Park 
  • Wednesday: 6:30pm & 7:30pm at Towneley Park 
  • Season: April – August 

Women’s indoor summer league schedule:  

  • From October to December and from January to Marc
  • Fast-paced six-a-side games where walls come into play! Bonus Rounders for big hitters reaching the back wall. 
  • Venue: St Peter’s Leisure Centre & other local venues 
  • Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays at 7pm, 7:30pm, 8pm, and 8:30pm

Stay Active with Burnley Leisure and Culture’s Active Football Sessions 

Looking for a fun way to keep fit, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors? Burnley Leisure and Culture’s Active Football sessions are the perfect choice! Whether you’re an experienced player or completely new to the game, these sessions welcome all abilities, letting you play at your own pace and comfort level. 

Football isn’t just great for physical fitness – it’s a fantastic boost for mental wellbeing too. Plus, it’s a brilliant opportunity to socialise, make friends, and feel part of a supportive community. And with fresh air and open space, every game feels energising and enjoyable. 

When and where: 

  • Mondays and Fridays at 11 am 
  • Prairie Sports Village 
  • Cost: £3 per session or FREE for members 

Since starting in 2016, Active Football has grown from just a handful of players to 30–40 participants each week, bringing together people from all walks of life. It’s a true hat-trick of football, fitness, and friendship – on and off the pitch. 

Burnley Leisure and Culture are working in partnership with other local organisations, including Burnley West Primary Care Network to deliver Active Hive.  

Our weekly sessions are designed to help you stay active, improve your wellbeing, and connect with others in a friendly and welcoming environment. Each session includes a variety of activities suitable for all abilities, so whether you want to get moving, try something new, or simply meet new people, there’s something for everyone.  

You don’t need to book in advance – just come along! The sessions are free of charge, and refreshments are provided.  Health & Wellbeing Coaches will also be available throughout the session to offer advice, guidance, and extra support if you need it.  

Sessions take place every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at The Hive, Padiham, Burnley, BB12 8ED. 

Swim Bike Run Local sessions are monthly opportunities designed to help you build fitness habits that last a lifetime. They’re a great way to get started, meet like-minded people, and build confidence in a welcoming and supportive environment. 

You can take part at your own pace – doing as much or as little as you like – all while enjoying a fun and relaxed session. 

These sessions combine both indoor and outdoor activities: 

  • Swim: Pool-based (200m) 
  • Bike: Static exercise (10km)  spin bikes 
  • Run: Along the Padiham Greenway (3km)  

Whether you’re new to Swim Bike Run or just looking for a sociable way to stay active, these sessions are for you. 

When and where: 

  •  3rd Sunday of each Month 
  • 9.30 am start 
  • Padiham Leisure Centre 
  • Cost: £5

Burnley Leisure and Culture are excited to announce Sports Social at the Prairie, a brand-new initiative designed to help you stay active, boost your wellbeing, and enjoy the great outdoors.  

We’re working in partnership with local organisations to bring you weekly sessions that combine physical activity with social connections in a friendly and welcoming environment. A mixture of free and paid activities will be on offer each week.
