Introduction
Burnley Mechanics Theatre is a magnificent Grade 2 Star listed building opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 1987, in order to present the absolute best in entertainment, special events, and community activities in the town.
Inside you will find a modern, multipurpose venue offering impressive performance spaces, state-of-the art technical facilities, and several comfortable and relaxing spaces to drink, dine, and meet friends.
Location
The Mechanics Theatre is located in the centre of Burnley, on Manchester Road, next to the Town Hall. 1855 Bistro & Bar is located on the ground floor of the theatre.
Opening Times
Box Office: Tuesday – Saturday 8.30am – 2:30pm
On performance days, the box office and theatre bar open one hour prior to the start time.
1855 Bistro: Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 2:30pm
Pre-theatre dining is available two hours prior to most performances however pre-booking is essential.
Booking Information
Tickets can be booked online, in person, or over the phone through the box office. Tickets will be sent to you via an email confirmation – these tickets can either be presented on your phone or printed out; please ensure the QR code is visible.
Concession tickets are available for certain events; these tickets are available for children, students in full-time education, and anyone over the age of 60.
Accessibility
We have a limited number of wheelchair and accessibility tickets available for each performance – these tickets must be booked via the Box Office where a free essential companion ticket will be issued.
The main entrance is located on the ground floor and the auditorium is located on the first floor. There is a lift available for customers to use. Disabled toilets are also available on both the ground and first floors.

There is a car park to the rear of the building that is only available for public use after 6pm on weekdays and is pay and display at weekends. There are also other pay and display car parks within walking distance of Burnley Mechanics. |
Getting Here
Burnley bus station is a five-minute walk from Burnley Mechanics Theatre with plenty of transport links available. The closest bus stop is the Mechanics Institute on Manchester Road. | |
There are three train stations in Burnley, all within walking distance of the Mechanics Theatre – Burnley Manchester Road, Burnley Central, and Burnley Barracks. |

Burnley Mechanics Theatre is home to 1855 Bistro & Bar, offering both a lunchtime and pre-theatre dining menu. Spread across the modern Front Room and cosy, more intimate Lounge Bar, 1855 Bistro serves a range of classic British dishes along with some modern twists too.
