Thompson Park is a formal Edwardian urban park that has retained most of it’s original features including a boating lake, Italian gardens and playground.

Thompson Park is the most ornamental of Burnley’s parks with large numbers of flower beds and a rose garden; this has created quite a different pattern of use compared to the other parks in Burnley, with more people visiting purely to see the flower displays, and for the safe environment for children to play (please note dogs are banned from the park).

There are two main recreational facilities; the boating lake and Victorian paddling pool, which are the only ones in Burnley. These attract large numbers of people especially during warm weather.

Thompson Park has undergone a recent £1.2 million Heritage Lottery Fund restoration, the project has restored the Grade II listed park to celebrate its heritage, from its opening in 1930 to the present day.

Enjoy your celebrations at the Pavilion, a beautiful new Art Deco venue. Perfect for family celebrations of up to 60 guests with an incredible raised outlook over the park.
