Join the Burnley Mile for Sport Relief

Burnley is set to host its fourth Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday, 20th March, with residents being encouraged to enter whilst places are available.

Local heroes will be walking and running themselves proud during the Burnley Mile event to raise life-changing money for Sport Relief 2016.

Set in the Towneley Park, the Burnley Mile will take in the sights of historic Towneley Hall and breathtaking countryside.

A mass warm up will take place at 10am in advance of the mile run, which sets off near the Riverside Café at 10:30am.

Super sprinters and willing walkers can choose to complete the challenge over one, three or six miles.

Michelle Grimes, events and funding officer at Burnley Leisure said: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Burnley is here and it’s your time to walk or run yourself proud. From little ones with their mums and dads, to runners up against the clock there’s something for everyone to make themselves feel proud on this special day.”

The national Sport Relief Games is taking place across a full weekend, from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March, with three whole days of energy, entertainment and events.

The weekend will kick off with the country getting active and raising money at home, school or work, before enjoying a star-studded Friday evening of Sport Relief TV on the BBC.
